Cheap Shell Catcher

Hello

I got a friend interested in trap shooting and we need to find a shell catcher for his gun. The gun is a mossberg 9200 autoloader does anyone even make a shell catcher for this gun? If not how can we construct one to work?

Thank you

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

I don’t know of anyone who makes a shell catcher for the Mossberg 9200.

Why not try the old rubber band trick. Put a rubber band around the receiver so that it goes past about the center of the ejection port. Make sure that the band is in front of the cocking lever. That placement will usually catch the shell just fine, though you may have to move it around a bit to fine tune it. Not very sophisticated, but it works on most semi-autos.

Best regards,

Birchwood-Casey makes a universal type shell catcher that gets the job done. I have a Benelli Cordoba model (semi-auto) and after installing one on this shotgun, I found that it does catch the ejected cases quite well. It mounts with a double sided tape, which does stay fixed when properly installed. I believe that the price for these shell catchers is also very reasonable.
