SHOT Show 2013-Impressions

The SHOT (Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade) Show is over. It normally is the largest and most heavily attended show for retailers and manufacturers of goods related to its moniker. Exhibitors who sold to the shooting, hunting or outdoor trade dominated the show in the late 1990’s through the mid 2000’s. Ever since 2001, the presence of Law Enforcement (LE) area has grown from a small presence to what appears to the eye as one-third the show space. While this is all well and good for the LE folks, there are less shooting, hunting and outdoor related exhibitors. I’m referring to the small companies that felt they had products that could cross-over to the SHOT market. I don’t see them as much. Add the issue of having to deal with the SHOT Show being at the Sands Convention Center instead of the Las Vegas Convention Center and the trip to SHOT becomes less and less compelling from this point on.
