Glad I found the ShotgunReport, I have been shooting some trap with my Beretta 625 SxS and have been looking for a single barrel trap gun. I would like to know what your thoughts are on the Beretta 682x Trap shotgun ? Barrel is 34″, the stock numbers look good. Weight is 8.6 lbs, comes with a hard case and 6 chokes.
Fit, balance and handling qualities are really your call. We all differ in those requirements. The 682 action is certainly a good one and has been proven to be reliable. Whether or not you like the configuration of the 682 under barrel trap gun depends on your taste. It is certainly good mechanically.
Probably the most popular single barrel trap gun is the Browning BT-99. They are certainly worth a look and are excellent durable guns. But they are single barrel only. The 682 can be had in a combo with a single barrel and an O/U barrel for doubles. Joel Etchen’s site has some nice Beretta combos http://www.joeletchenguns.com.
Of course, with a single barrel trap gun, you can’t shoot Olympic bunker. You need an O/U for that amazing game.
Browning and Beretta are sort of like Honda and Toyota sedans. They may not always be right, but they are never wrong. Good guns both.
