Charles Daly Shotguns

Dear Technoid

Charles Daly Shot guns.

1. Are they high quality?

2. Do they compare to Remington or a Browning?

Thanks.

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

Saying that you have a Charles Daly shotgun is like saying you have a General Motors vehicle. It could be anything from gold to goiter (how about that inapt inept analogy!).

Charles Daly is an importing brand name and has been stuck on a variety of guns, ranging from the famous ultra-quality Lindner Prussian Daly’s (also from other pre-war German makers) of the 1930s to the Mirokus (same as Browning Citori) of the 1960s and 1970s to some modestly priced Italian guns produced by Breda and others. They also marketed a line of high end Italian models. It all depends on which Daly you are talking about.

If the gun you are talking about just happens to be a Charles Daly from B.C.Miroku in Japan, you have a good one. I always felt that the Miroku/Dalys had a better fit and finish than the Citoris. Certainly that had a better fit and more elaborate finish than the early Citoris. Today’s Citori’s are excellent once you get past the nose heavy balance inflicted on them by those huge screw chokes.

Best regards,
